The Power to Get Wealth — Dr. Derrick Traylor

There is a difference between wanting money and being entrusted with wealth.

Most people want more money. They want relief from pressure, freedom from debt, stability for their families, and the ability to live without constantly worrying about the next bill, the next emergency, or the next financial need. There is nothing wrong with desiring stability. There is nothing wrong with wanting increase. There is nothing wrong with praying for financial breakthrough.

But kingdom wealth is deeper than having more money.

Kingdom wealth is connected to purpose. It is connected to covenant. It is connected to assignment. It is connected to stewardship. It is connected to generosity, wisdom, diligence, and integrity. It is not just about what comes into your hands. It is about what God can trust you to do with what He places in your hands.

In the morning prayer and teaching session, the prayer turned toward financial increase, entrepreneurial success, business wisdom, and covenant provision. The anchor Scripture was Deuteronomy 8:18.

““But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.””

Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)

That Scripture does not simply say that God gives wealth. It says He gives the power to get wealth.

That means God gives more than money. He gives ability. He gives ideas. He gives wisdom. He gives strength. He gives discipline. He gives creativity. He gives opportunity. He gives favor. He gives access. He gives insight. He gives the grace to produce, build, solve, manage, multiply, and steward.

The power to get wealth is not just about receiving a miracle. It is about becoming equipped to participate with God in the work of increase.

God Is the Source

The first thing we must settle is this: God is the source.

A job may be a channel, but God is the source. A business may be a channel, but God is the source. Clients, contracts, customers, investments, opportunities, and open doors may all be channels, but God is still the source.

This matters because when we confuse the channel with the source, we panic whenever the channel changes.

If the job is threatened, fear rises. If the client leaves, anxiety rises. If the business slows down, discouragement rises. If the economy shifts, uncertainty rises. If one opportunity closes, we begin to wonder whether provision has ended.

But when we know God is our source, we do not have to collapse when a channel dries up.

Elijah learned this when God provided for him through ravens at the brook. Then the brook dried up. The ravens were one channel, but they were not the source. God was the source. When that season ended, God had already prepared another channel through the widow of Zarephath.

That is why we must never limit God to one paycheck, one client, one employer, one contract, one opportunity, or one stream of income. God knows how to sustain His people. He knows how to redirect provision. He knows how to open another door when one door closes.

The systems of this world can shift, weaken, fail, or become unstable, but God remains faithful.

  • Your paycheck is not your god.
  • Your employer is not your god.
  • Your business is not your god.
  • Your bank account is not your god.
  • Your credit score is not your god.

God is your source.

Wealth Begins with Covenant

Deuteronomy 8:18 teaches that God gives power to get wealth so that He may establish His covenant. That means wealth, from a kingdom perspective, is not disconnected from divine purpose. God’s increase has meaning. His provision has responsibility attached to it.

We must remember the covenant.

God’s covenant is connected to provision, peace, family, purpose, success, and His faithfulness. We are not walking as orphans. We are sons and daughters of God. We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ.

That matters because an orphan spirit handles money differently from a covenant son or daughter.

An orphan spirit hoards because it is afraid there will never be enough. A wounded spirit controls because it is afraid of being vulnerable again. An insecure spirit spends to prove value. A greedy spirit wants more but never asks why. A fearful spirit avoids decisions because it is afraid to fail.

But a covenant son or daughter says, “God is my source, and I am called to steward what He gives me.”

Covenant changes how we see money.

  • Money is not just for survival.
  • Money is not just for image.
  • Money is not just for comfort.
  • Money is not just for status.

Money becomes a tool for assignment.

It helps stabilize the household. It helps support the work of God. It helps create opportunity. It helps serve others. It helps build what God has called us to build. It helps us respond to needs without being controlled by fear.

Kingdom wealth is not greed with religious language. Kingdom wealth is stewardship under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

God Gives Ideas That Solve Problems

Very often, God’s answer to financial increase is not only a check. Sometimes His answer is an idea.

Sometimes He gives you a business idea. Sometimes He shows you a problem you are called to solve. Sometimes He gives you a service people need. Sometimes He reminds you of a skill you have been overlooking. Sometimes He connects you to a person who carries wisdom. Sometimes He gives you insight into a market, a need, a trend, or an opportunity. Sometimes He helps you organize what has been sitting in your spirit for years.

That is a mature way to pray for wealth.

We should not only pray, “Lord, send money.” We should also pray, “Lord, give me wisdom. Show me what problem I am called to solve. Show me what I carry. Show me who I am assigned to serve. Show me how to turn ideas into organized plans and plans into consistent action.”

God gives creativity, but creativity must be useful. God gives inspiration, but inspiration must become implementation. God gives vision, but vision must be organized. God gives opportunity, but opportunity must be stewarded.

Some ideas sound exciting but are not practical. Some ventures are meaningful but not yet profitable. Some dreams are powerful but still need structure. Some people are waiting on increase, but God is waiting on them to organize the idea He already gave them.

James 1:5 teaches us to ask God for wisdom. That includes wisdom for business, money, decisions, partnerships, pricing, planning, and execution.

Money without wisdom can disappear quickly. Opportunity without wisdom can become overwhelming. Increase without maturity can expose weakness. But when God gives wisdom with increase, the blessing can be sustained.

Strategic Prayer: God, Give Me the Power to Get Wealth

Father, in the name of Jesus, I acknowledge You as my source. You are the giver of every good and perfect gift. You are the One who gives wisdom, strength, creativity, opportunity, favor, and the power to get wealth.

According to Deuteronomy 8:18, I remember You, Lord my God, for it is You who gives me power to get wealth so that Your covenant may be established in my life.

I surrender my finances, career, business ideas, investments, goals, plans, projects, products, services, and entrepreneurial future into Your hands. Teach me to build with wisdom. Teach me to hear Your voice. Teach me to recognize opportunities that are aligned with Your will.

Lord, help me remember that my job, clients, contracts, business, and income streams are channels, but You are my source. Deliver me from panic when a channel changes. Deliver me from fear when one door closes. Give me faith to believe that You already know where the next provision is coming from.

Reveal the ideas You have placed within me. Show me the problems I am called to solve. Show me the people I am assigned to serve. Show me the gifts, skills, wisdom, and experience You want to use in this season.

Give me creativity that is practical, useful, and profitable. Help me turn ideas into organized plans. Help me turn plans into consistent action. Help me build what honors You and blesses others.

I renounce the fear of financial limitation. I renounce the belief that success is reserved for others and not for me. I renounce shame concerning my financial condition. I renounce confusion, procrastination, self-sabotage, and indecision.

I declare that God is my source. I declare that I am not an orphan. I am a covenant son/daughter. I declare that I have access to wisdom, provision, favor, opportunity, and strategy.

Lord, give me the power to get wealth, and make me faithful to steward it well.

In Jesus’ name, amen.
